Trace the history of the Jacques Herbin brand with our 1670 anniversary inks

Let’s go back to 1670, the year Jacques Herbin was founded in the heart of Paris. First sealing wax, then writing ink. The 1670 collection commemorates this date with sublime inks featuring high-quality gold flakes. Suitable for fountain pens, roller pens and glass nibs. The waxing of the stopper and the seal on the bottle are done by hand in our workshops

It is difficult to know the exact date when the Jacques Herbin brand was created (a deed has now been lost).
The male members of the Herbin family were called Jacques or Joseph, which enabled the brand name to be changed more quickly to J.HERBIN to give it greater legitimacy. As for the founder of the brand, it would appear that he was a sailor before setting up his business as a merchant and wax manufacturer. Sealing wax was in great demand at the time, and he would have supplied the court of Louis XIV.

Persian Turquoise writing ink

Inspired by the precious stone, it shimmers with golden flakes for a unique and dazzlingly beautiful writing style. This stone comes from Iran, where several mines are located. Turquoise from Persia reached Europe via the Silk Road. Legend has it that Jacques Herbin stopped off in Persia on his way back from India, where he had gone to stock up on shellac for sealing wax
